Chloé has recently entered into a brand new collaboration with Barbour. The history of two maisons, the former founded in 1952 by Egyptian-born Parisian designer Gaby Aghion and her partner Jacques Lenoir, the history of Barbour on the other hand began in 1894 with John Barbour who founded ‘J. Barbour & Sons, Tailors and Drapers’ in South Shields and produced waterproof coats and jackets. The British company has also represented the Royal Family for decades. Family personalities who, over time, have given Barbour their value include Lady Diana in the past and Kate Middleton and Prince William today.
Barbour jackets have always had a personal meaning for Chloé’s current Creative Director Gabriela Hearst, those jackets remind her of her family. Thus was born Barbour x Chloé, a collection designed by the French fashion house with reference to the Barbour archive dating back to 1910. Among the items in the collection are the Dany coat and Dustyn jacket, both featuring ruffles on the shoulders that form Chloé’s inimitable winged silhouette, and the Hadrien cape.
Not just clothing though, this collection also features accessories made by Chloé but with Barbour materials. There are two models of the Edith bag – medium and large -, the Mallo and Noua boots, a square silk scarf and a hat. All models feature Barbour’s iconic waxed cotton fabrics.
When will it be possible to buy this collection?
The Barbour x Chloé capsule collection will finally be available for pre-launch on Matches Fashion from 2 December and afterwards in all Chloé boutiques, on barbour.com and at select Barbour retailers worldwide from 9 December.
